How Will You Make an Impact?

As a Project Director at Acasus, you will lead transformative reforms on urgent global development issues. You’ll own the vision for your portfolio, guiding teams and partners to deliver ambitious, lasting impact for citizens.

You will build capacity within governments, grow high-performing teams through coaching and apprenticeship, and challenge the status quo when it limits outcomes. With full ownership and accountability, you’ll set the course, make the hard calls, and champion Acasus’ values to drive meaningful change every day.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Lead Country Strategy and Vision

  • Own the strategy for your portfolio, keeping citizens at the centre of every decision.

  • Partner with leaders from governments and partners to design ambitious reform agendas.

  • Anticipate shifts in context, and adapt quickly to protect momentum and results.

Deliver Impact Across Projects

  • Assure quality through strategic oversight, deep expertise, and disciplined routines.

  • Facilitate deep problem-solving sessions with teams.

  • Develop high-impact outputs, including documents and presentations.

  • Use stocktakes, problem-solving sessions, and other internal team routines to create delivery rhythms, model openness and feedback, and maintain a relentless focus on quality.

  • Help teams navigate uncertainty and complexity.

  • Own turnaround efforts when momentum, impact or perception falters, intervening decisively to restore confidence, clarity, and results.

Build Exceptional Team Cultures

  • Drive alignment on mission and vision, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Develop high-performing teams through coaching, training, and clear feedback.

  • Build skills and confidence by fostering a culture of openness, feedback, and structured learning.

  • Model integrity, humility, and curiosity as a leader.

Champion Organisational Growth

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop exceptional talent while leading learning across the organisation.

  • Codify best practices into tools and resources, and drive changes that make Acasus leaner and more effective.

We Are Looking For:

  • 8–10+ years leading complex, high-stakes initiatives that deliver measurable results.

  • Experience delivering under pressure in consulting, government systems, or similar mission-driven environments.

  • Mastery of delivery, reform, and sector content.

  • Exceptional skills in coaching, influencing, and strategic problem-solving.

  • Ability to navigate political complexity and align diverse stakeholders behind bold reforms.

  • Resilience, sound judgment, and unwavering focus on citizen impact.

  • The courage to make brave decisions, speak truth to power, and let others lead.

  • At least five years of experience leading multiple teams and projects simultaneously (e.g. 3–6 teams), or large individual teams (e.g. with over 20 people); strong leadership and coaching skills.

  • Experience in education or health sectors is advantageous.

  • Fluency in English is essential, while French and Portuguese is a bonus.

  • Openness to international and domestic travel.
